Description of the attraction

The Dobosna estate in the village of Zhilichy was built in the 30s of the 19th century for the wealthy nobleman Ignatius Bulgak. The nobleman started to build the most beautiful palace in the whole country and overshadow the splendor of the European royal residences. He hired a local architect K. Podchashinskis and made the right decision. The talented architect created a real masterpiece of palace and park architecture: a majestic palace and a park in a regular style, decorated with sculptures and small architectural forms. The huge estate, together with a park, gardens and a palace complex, occupied about 100 hectares.

The architect had an additional task: Ignatius Bulgak had a refined musical taste and demanded that all the premises be distinguished by excellent acoustics. Also, secret passages were created for the musicians, along which they could pass to different halls without disturbing the eminent guests and owners of the house, as well as special balconies where the musicians were unnoticed. The music seemed to flow by itself.

The palace and park complex is designed in the strict traditions of classicism. Its main building is decorated with a six-column Corinthian portico. Two short side wings are decorated with porticoes.

Unfortunately, after the Bolsheviks came to power, the beautiful palace was barbarously plundered, and Soviet institutions were housed in it, the most appropriate of which was a children's music school. Soviet "architects" also worked here, spoiling the ancient palace with stained-glass windows on the Soviet theme. Fortunately, the interior decoration in some places has been preserved in the palace.

The Dobosna Manor is currently undergoing reconstruction. From the already renovated wing, one can judge how magnificent the palace will be after the completion of construction work.
