Description of the attraction
The monument to the founders of Novorossiysk is one of the city's attractions, located in the Historical Square on the embankment. The grand opening of the monument took place on June 12, 2001. The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, public organizations, as well as guests and residents of the hero-city.
The monument to the founders of Novorossiysk was made by the famous sculptor A. Suvorov. All sculptures were made of bronze and mounted on a high pedestal. The total height of the pedestal is 4 meters. On the granite pedestal you can see the names of all the founding fathers of Novorossiysk, namely General Nikolai Raevsky, Vice Admiral Mikhail Lazarev and Rear Admiral Lazar Serebryakov.
The tallest character in the sculptural group is General Nikolai Raevsky. His height on the pedestal is 3 meters 60 centimeters.
After the historical and cultural examination of the monument, carried out by the Novorossiysk Historical Society, it was confirmed that the military suits were reconstructed exactly as they looked at the time of the founding of Novorossiysk.
For the sake of fairness, it is worth noting that of all three founders, only Lazar Serebryakov contributed to its development, who became not only one of the founders of Novorossiysk, but also its first city planner.
