Description of the attraction
One of the architectural decorations of the city of Yekaterinburg is the most beautiful old mansion - Sevastyanov's house, located on the bank of the city pond.
The first mention of the house appeared in 1817. Initially, the house was erected for the mine surveyor I. Polkov, but the building has repeatedly changed its owners. In 1860, the collegiate assessor N. Sevastyanov became the owner of the three-story building. After some time, the building of the house was rebuilt according to the project of the architect A. Paduchev. The mansion is decorated with intricate Gothic decor with baroque elements.
The mansion entered the history of the Urals under the name "Sevastyanov's House". N. I. Sevastyanov served as an ordinary official in the mining department. During the Crimean War, he was responsible for the delivery of products from the Ural factories, thanks to which he made a fortune.
In 1880, Nikolai Ivanovich sold his mansion to the treasury, after which the District Court was located within its walls. A few years later, the government office needed more space, so in 1914 the building was expanded. The project was directed by the architect A. A. Fedorov. In the same year, the facade of the corner rotunda was decorated with the inscription "District Court". In 1917, the building of the District Court was almost completely destroyed by the revolutionary-minded soldiers of the Achinsk Infantry Regiment. A year later, the first Ural Labor Commissariat in the country was located here.
For many decades, the building housed the regional council of trade unions, as evidenced by the inscription on the facade of the rotunda. The trade unions were in this building until recently, until in 2008, it did not begin a major renovation. As a result of the restoration, the building has been transformed both outside and inside. The walls were decorated with gilded bas-reliefs, an ornament appeared on the ceiling, and quite expensive parquet on the floor. The renovated building was opened in spring 2009.
Currently, Sevastyanov's house is the Reception House and the Yekaterinburg residence of the President of Russia. All the wealth and beauty of the interior decoration of the house can be seen by ordering a tour.
