Description of the attraction
On Pushkinskaya street in house number 13 there is a literary-memorial museum of A. S. Pushkin. In the 20s of the XIX century, this house belonged to a well-known merchant in Odessa - Charles Sicard. Here was located one of the first hotels in the city - "Hotel du Nord", where, upon arrival in Odessa on July 3, 1823, Pushkin stayed and lived for a month.
For thirteen months of Odessa he created the poem "Gypsies", completed the poem "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai", wrote thirty lyric poems and two and a half chapters of the novel "Eugene Onegin". The street where the great poet lived, formerly called Italian, was renamed in 1880 to Pushkinskaya. The museum of the great poet has been operating in the "Pushkin" house (as the Odessites - admirers of the poet's talent called) for more than 30 years.
Here you can get acquainted with old prints of Pushkin's Odessa, portraits of the poet's contemporaries, unique Pushkin autographs with drawings, rare lifetime editions of Pushkin's works. Each item of Pushkin's time, presented in the exposition, transfers to the world of Pushkin's images, conveys the spirit of the times, the mood of the poet.
Tens of thousands of people visit the museum every year. It hosts meetings with creative and scientific workers, open lessons, consultations for students, evenings dedicated to the memory of A. Pushkin, book and art exhibitions.
