Description of the attraction
One of the largest pearl farms in Thailand is located in the northeast of Phuket on the island of Nagannaya. Founded in 1964, it supplies pearl jewelry both throughout the country and abroad. Especially valuable is the fact that pearls are grown here in seawater, so their quality turns out to be much higher than that of those produced in rivers.
To date, about 100 thousand pearl oysters are grown on the Nakha farm, producing pearls. The whole process of obtaining pearls takes place over a long time with a huge expenditure of human labor. If desired, you can observe all stages of production yourself.
It should be noted that the formation of a pearl is a protective reaction of an oyster to the ingress of a foreign body into it. To achieve the desired result, the master slightly opens the oyster and inserts a tiny piece of coral into it. Then a huge garland of oysters is placed in the sea, where beautiful pearls will be formed within 2-5 years.
Pearls from the Nakha farm are prized for their excellent quality and variety. Different types of oysters are grown here, thus obtaining pearls of various shades - from cream and white to rare black. By the way, it was here that the largest pearl in the artificial habitat was grown - its diameter was 40 millimeters.
If you wish, you can purchase pearl jewelry at the jewelry store on the territory of the Nakha farm.
