Description of the attraction
The Holy Vvedensky Monastery at the Holy Vvedensky Church in the city of Ivanovo was founded on March 27, 1991 by Archimandrite Ambrose. The Holy Vvedensky Church in the center of Ivanovo was built at the beginning of the 20th century at the expense of the townspeople (architect P. Begen). But, like other churches, in October 1935 the temple was transferred to the renovationists, and in 1938 it was closed. Icons and other items of decoration of the temple were looted, and the Regional archive was located in the building.
In 1942, an attempt was made to reopen the temple. But the authorities considered that there was no reason for the opening of the temple. In 1988 alone, twenty believers (the required minimum) were gathered to open the temple. The community was registered in November.
Three thousand signatures were collected to open the temple. Nevertheless, the city executive committee decided to refuse to open the church. On March 21, women from the church community Valeria Savchenko, Larisa Kholina, Margarita Pilenkova went on strike at the Sovremennik cinema with a hunger strike. Then Galina Yashchukovskaya joined them. A day later, the police took them to the fence of the Vvedensky temple. The women continued their hunger strike for 16 days. Only after the representatives of the executive committee promised to consider the issue of transferring the Vvedensky church, the women stopped their hunger strike. In 1990, the keys to the church were handed over to the community. The temple was in a terrible state. After a while, a small community was formed at the church from the singers. Then a female monastery arose from it. On March 27, 1991, the Patriarch of Moscow Alexy II signed a decree on the creation of the Holy Vvedensky women's monastery.
Today, the monastery, together with the farmsteads, numbers more than two hundred people. With the help of the inhabitants of the temple, parishioners and benefactors, the Vvedenskaya church was restored; several buildings and a bell tower were erected next to the temple. Today it is one of the most beautiful places in the city.
At the Svyato-Vvedensky monastery, in addition to the church in Ivanovo and the parish territory in the Ivanovo region, there are several farmsteads. In 1991, the Preobrazhenskoye courtyard was created in the former village of Doronino. The church was restored there. In January 2001, in the winter part of the church, a throne was consecrated in the name of the Donskoy Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and Euthymii Tikhonravov, who once served in this church. At the Preobrazhensky courtyard there are the main monastic land holdings. Here the nuns grow vegetables, planted an orchard, harvest mushrooms and berries for the winter, and work in an apiary. The cattle yard of the monastery is located here, where cows and chickens are raised.
The once abandoned village of Doronino is also being revived. Recently erected: a brick three-story building, about a dozen residential buildings made of wood, a two-story wooden refectory, outbuildings. The stockyard continues to develop, gasification of the entire courtyard and the construction of greenhouses are planned.
In March 1993, the Pokrovskoe courtyard was created in the old estate in the Lezhnevsky district in the village of Zlatoust. The manor building was restored in a year. Divine services began here on Christmas Day in 1995. A building for a female boarding school is being built at the Pokrovsky courtyard, and gasification of the courtyard has been completed. Nuns help orphans from the village of Cherntsy.
Ilyinskoe courtyard is located in the town of Gavrilov Posad. Here is the restoration of the temple of the prophet of God Elijah, which is an architectural monument of the 18th century.
In the forest zone of the village of Stupkino, Lezhnevsky district, on the lands of a reindeer farm that previously existed here, another courtyard was created - Sergiev Pustyn in honor of Sergius of Radonezh. The monastery garden and apiary are located here. It is planned to build a church of St. Sergius, as well as cell buildings for 100 people, a road and a gas pipeline. The temporary temple was consecrated here in 2002.
The Holy Vvedensky Monastery is active in social and missionary activities. Archimandrite Ambrose is the confessor of the Orthodox radio station. The nuns participate in the Diocesan Prison Mission and regularly visit local correctional facilities. They also serve on the diocesan commission for the canonization of saints.
