Description of the attraction
The working museum "Verstas" was founded in 1993. in the historic buildings of the Finlayson cotton mill. It is located in the center of Tampere and has an exhibition area of about 2000 m2, and the total museum occupies 5000 m2, making it the second largest in Tampere.
The Verstas Museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions dedicated to national social history and working life. Within the framework of the working museum, there is the Museum of Steam Machines and the Museum of the Textile Industry, as well as a regional excursion center. Thanks to this, "Verstas" is a versatile and versatile facility for family recreation.
Within the framework of the exhibition of the Museum of the Textile Industry, visitors will get acquainted with various types of yarns and fabrics, and will also be able to study the phases of production: from fiber to fabric.
Since 2011, the entrance to the museum has been made free. "Verstas" is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday.
