Description of the attraction
An unusual monument - a white hat of a vacationer - was solemnly opened in Anapa on September 6, 2007 and from that moment it became a new symbol of this city. The monument, in front of which every passer-by now takes off his hat, is located in the city center in the park of the 30th anniversary of Victory, on the seaside alley leading to the central beach.
The memorial sign for the white hat is a gift for the City Day, which has become an amusing "calling card" of the resort. The inscription on it reads: "That same white hat." The main initiator of the installation of this monument in Anapa was the architect S. Romakhin, and the sculptor V. Polyakov brought this idea to life.
The very first Anapa monument to the white hat, which had been adorned at the Park Hotel for several years, was very popular among local residents and visiting tourists, but the hat suddenly disappeared. Today, no one can steal a white hat, designed to serve as an all-weather and permanent symbol of the city.
A huge boulder, which has not undergone any special processing, serves as a pedestal for the headdress. The sculpture of the hat, made of white marble, weighs about 300 kg, it is 1.5 m in diameter. The hat and the inscription on the boulder were rubbed with special beeswax to maintain shine under the influence of weather conditions. Beautiful flower beds with a variety of colors serve as an excellent addition to the commemorative sign.
Here, under the scorching Anapa sun, one simply cannot do without a headdress, so every second resident or vacationer of this city has such an accessory. During the entire existence of the monument to the white hat, a good tradition has arisen to greet him, lifting his hat. There is a legend that everyone who touches the hat will be lucky.
