Description of the attraction
The open-air museum is located 15 km from Graz and covers an area of more than 60 hectares. Here are collected about 90 different old peasant houses, sheds, barns, mills and other typical examples of rural architecture in Austria.
The Tyrolean farm from Alpbach dates back to 1660, the estate from West Styria dates back to the 16th century, the bell tower from Schallendurf is more than 300 years old.
Every day the Museum hosts various events for curious tourists. You can watch how folk craftsmen weave lace and try yourself in this hard work. You can take part in singing folk songs or listen to fairy tales. And on the last Sunday in September, Adventure Day is held every year, ending with a fun picnic.
