Description of the attraction
Emborios is a small coastal village in the northern part of the Greek island of Kalymnos. The settlement is located on the shore of a picturesque natural bay about 20 km north-west of the administrative center of the island - the city of Potia. Emborios is perhaps the smallest settlement on the island with a population of less than 100 people. Most of the local residents are mainly engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding. In recent years, the tourism sector has begun to actively develop in Emborios.
In ancient times, Emborios was a major trade center and a strategically important port on the island of Kalymnos. Today, this is a small, cozy town with narrow streets and charming white houses, against which a beautiful snow-white temple with an impressive bell tower crowned with a blue dome stands proudly.
Emborios is an ideal place for family holidays, as well as for those who just want to relax in silence, away from the hustle and bustle of popular tourist centers. Here you will find everything you need for a comfortable and measured stay - small hotels, comfortable apartments, rooms for rent, mini markets and shops, traditional restaurants and taverns with excellent local cuisine and, of course, excellent beaches.
Emborios is the last settlement in the northern part of the island, where, in fact, the central road ends. Beyond are the breathtaking wild landscapes of Kalymnos and the steep rocky mountains. It is not surprising that this place is especially popular with mountaineering fans. However, lovers of long walks will not be bored here either. Sailing, windsurfing, diving, water skiing, fishing, etc. are also very popular in Emborios.
