Description of the attraction
The Cathedral is located on Kaptol Square. It was consecrated in honor of Saint Stephen, Saint Vladislav and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; mentioned in the ancient chronicles of the 9th century. After a major earthquake in 1880, the twin towers of the cathedral (each 105 meters high), executed in the Gothic style, crumbled to dust. Later, the towers and the facade of the cathedral were restored in the neo-Gothic style.
The interior of the temple is also designed in the neo-Gothic style. The lower windows are made of variegated glass designed by the Viennese architect Hermann Bolle at the end of the 19th century. The magnificent cathedral pulpit from 1696, supported by an angel, is made in the Baroque style. The triptych in the sacristy is by Albrecht Durer (1495).
