Description of the attraction

Flinders Chase National Park is home to rare animal species and amazing geologic formations. The park is located 110 km from Kingscote, in the west of Kangaroo Island. The local flora and fauna were taken under state protection in 1919, and almost immediately animals from the mainland were brought into the park. In the 1940s. 23 species of animals were brought here, including the koala and the platypus. But, perhaps, the most popular objects among visitors to the park are anomalous geological formations - Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch.

The remarkable Rocks, despite their superficial resemblance to the abstract creations of human hands, are natural surface formations that grow directly from the granite rock. The creators of this miracle are rain and wind.

Another unusual formation of the Flinders Chase is the Admiral's Arch, a prime example of how the mighty ocean can create bizarre coastlines. Tourists from a special observation deck can admire the Arch itself, the views of the ocean tide, and enjoy the spectacle of fur seals frolicking in the warm water.

You can get to the park by car from Kingscote or from the town of Penneshaw.
