Description of the attraction
The Museum "Land and People" (Bulgarian "Zemyata and Khorata") is a national mineralogy museum located in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. It was founded in 1986, and opened its doors to visitors in 1987. By the way, the building of the museum was built at the end of the 19th century and is a cultural monument.
On 4 thousand sq. m. of the museum, visitors can get acquainted with a fairly extensive collection of exhibits (more than twenty thousand) - giant crystals, minerals from Bulgaria and the rest of the world, precious stones. All expositions were acquired by the museum through donations from various companies and individuals to the “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” foundation. The Museum carries out its activities in two main directions: collection, study, preservation and exposition of mineral samples; implementation of project activities in the field of culture, education, science, innovation and nature protection.
Also in the National Museum "Earth and People" are held evenings of classical music and various exhibitions: speleological collections and even cats and dogs. The museum has its own library, scientific laboratories, halls for expositions, meetings, video demonstrations, conference rooms and its own jewelry store.
