Description of the attraction

Our Dynamic Land is an extraordinary museum and science center located in Old Edinburgh, next to the new Scottish Parliament Building and Holyrood House. The center was opened in 1999 as part of the Millennium Meeting program. The program provided for the reorganization of the territories previously occupied by industrial enterprises. The roof of this unusual building is a metal membrane stretched over a steel frame, designed by Michael Hopkins & Partners.

This scientific and entertainment center sees its main task in telling visitors about the processes that have shaped our planet. A difficult task is being solved here: how to strike a balance between scientific accuracy and reliability and an entertaining form of presentation of the material.

The museum features interactive exhibits about dinosaurs and other extinct animals, the important role of rainforests and ocean life. From the mouth of the volcano, visitors are transported to the ice age.

Some of the expositions are devoted to forecasts of the development of the Earth, both based on real facts and fantastic: what would dinosaurs and our planet in general look like now if that fatal collision of the asteroid with the Earth had not happened? Much attention is paid to nature conservation and how fragile an ecosystem can be and how easily it can be disturbed.

The museum is visited with pleasure by both children and adults.
