Description of the attraction

There is a huge Buddhist complex Wat Yannasangwararam 20 km south of Pattaya. It covers an area of about 145 hectares and consists of buildings erected in different architectural styles, shady gardens and a large lake, along the shore of which it is pleasant to walk and enjoy the views.

The first building that a visitor sees at Wat Yannasangwararam is the Viharn Sien, a Chinese temple and museum that houses an excellent collection of Chinese antiques and religious items.

The most interesting building of the Wat Yannasangwararam complex is the main temple, which was erected in a style that is unconventional for local sacred buildings. In it you can see a copy of a footprint and many relics of the Buddha.

Near the main temple there are buildings in Indian, Japanese, Chinese styles. In addition to pagodas, you can also see various monuments here, for example, to King Prajadhipok.

All visitors to the Buddhist complex must climb the hill, where a miniature chapel was built, hiding the footprint of the Buddha. A staircase leads upstairs, which, according to guidebooks, consists of 300 steps. In fact, there are not many steps. Buddhists believe that with every step they make, they leave behind one of their sins.

Temple Wat Yannasangwararam, which is abbreviated as Wat Yan, was built in 1976 in honor of the Supreme Patriarch Somdei Phra Yanasangvorn, who was then the head of the Thai monastic order. Now the complex is under the auspices of the Thai king.

The quiet and peaceful atmosphere of Wat Yannasangwararam is conducive to leisurely walks. But during Thai public holidays, when locals come from all over the area, it is noisy and uncomfortable here.
