The beginning of the summer of 2021 was marked by the opening of a new fashionable hotel on the territory of the magnificent palace complex of Versailles, which is visited by thousands of tourists every year. Now they have the opportunity to stay longer in their favorite country residence of Louis XIV, choosing a new hotel for their stay.

In Versailles, mere mortals will be able to live and rest like kings. The owners of the Airelles hotel chain, to which the hotel in Versailles belongs, successfully convince their guests of this.

The luxury hotel Airelles Chateau de Versailles, Le Grand Controle in Versailles was expected to open in 2020, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, it was postponed for a year. The 14 suites have been designed by a team led by the brilliant architect and designer Kritofer Tollemer.

The building in which the hotel is located was built in 1681 by the favorite architect of the Sun King, Jules Hardouin-Mansart. At one time, many famous people, representatives of the elite of that time, visited here: poets, musicians, artists, politicians.

Already in our time, the building has been renovated and converted into guest rooms. The restorers managed to preserve the atmosphere of the 17th-18th centuries in the building. All rooms are furnished with antique furniture, decorated with original paintings, and have dim lighting, which is designed to remind of the Golden Age of the French monarchy. Instead of modern plasma TVs, guests are offered gorgeous views from the windows of the Orangerie and the Lake of the Swiss.

Each room at the Airelles Chateau de Versailles, Le Grand Controle has its own name. Here you can find rooms "Marquis de Fouquet", "Madame de Stael", "Necker", "Paul de Beauvilliers and Loménie de Brienne", etc. Each apartment is decorated in its own style. The only thing they have in common is the lack of plastic parts. The hotel focuses on environmental friendliness and naturalness of decorative materials.

Any hotel room is worthy of the closest attention. For example, the Madame de Stael suite with an area of 150 sq. M. is a bright, spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms, a large living room and 2 bathrooms. This room can accommodate 6 people.

The suite is decorated in the style of the Petit Trianon, which once belonged to Madame de Pompadour, the lover of the French king Louis XV. The room is decorated with original crystal chandeliers from the 18th century. The bathroom offers a breathtaking view of the Greenhouse.

Privileges for guests

The cost of staying at the hotel is high - about 1700 euros per night. However, for this money, the guest gets a lot of advantages:

  • the opportunity to visit the Trianon estate in the morning, before the official opening of the attraction for tourists;
  • private visit to the Palace of Versailles in the company of an experienced guide;
  • a leisurely tour of the Mirror Gallery outside of the palace's working hours;
  • boat trip along the Grand Canal with a glass of champagne;
  • a photo session in costumes that were used in the filming of the series Versailles, which tells about the era of the reign of Louis XIV;
  • a royal dinner at the Salle des Hoquetons, the former apartments of the daughters of Louis XV;
  • a picnic in one of the groves of the Versailles Park, harvesting in the Queen's Garden and a master class on the preparation of Alain Ducasse's signature dish;
  • attraction "One Day in the Role of Marie Antoinette", which includes trying on royal outfits, walks through the Trianons, relaxing in the spa, dinner in the French Pavilion, which was especially appreciated by the queen;
  • 15-minute private concert at the Royal Opera for hotel guests only;
  • personal butler service.

Additional bonuses

The menu for the restaurant of the Grand Controle was developed by renowned chef Alain Ducasse. It offers guests exquisite delicacies prepared according to creatively re-imagined ancient recipes.

For breakfast, Ducasse serves pastries, fresh fruit, French toast with salted caramel and other delights to keep you in the mood for the day.

Lunch, like that of the aristocrats of the 18th century, consists of 2-5 changes of dishes. Dear guests are offered galantine with foie gras and pistachios, coquule Saint-Jacques with Jerusalem artichoke and truffles and similar delicacies.

For five o'clock tea, Viennese buns and hot chocolate with the orange blossom aroma, which Marie Antoinette loved so much, are prepared.

In the evening before dinner, there is a chance to sample signature cocktails in the bar. And dinner is a real royal feast, when the dishes are served on gilded dishes by waiters in old costumes.

The hotel complex includes the luxuriously decorated wellness center "Valmont", which belongs to the French cosmetics brand of the same name, which has been operating since 1985. The hotel offers a range of relaxing and healing treatments that Marie-Antoinette herself would not refuse. There is also a 15-meter indoor pool.
