A little about the country

Turkey is considered an industrial state with a dynamically developing economy. Most of the Russian diaspora in Turkey lives in Istanbul and resort cities, but in the hinterland you can also meet Russian immigrants who preferred Turkish exoticism.

Turks treat Russian culture and traditions with understanding and respect, and therefore the adaptation of Russian citizens to local realities is quite quick and painless.

Where to begin?

To obtain a residence permit in Turkey, it is important to determine the goals and choose which residence permit you are interested in: tourist or long-term.

If there are not enough good reasons for a long stay in the country, the authorities can only issue a tourist residence permit to a foreigner. It is valid for a maximum of three months in each calendar year.

The long-term residence permit is issued for a period of one year and is subject to renewal as needed. The basis for obtaining it can be, in particular, the purchase of Turkish real estate or starting a business.

After five years of residence in the country in the status of a temporary resident, a foreigner has the right to apply to the migration authorities with a request to provide a permanent residence permit, and then - the citizenship of the country.

Legal ways to move to Turkey for permanent residence

To obtain a residence permit, you will have to prove to the migration authorities of the country your grounds for long-term residence. Such grounds may include:

  • Marriage to a Turkish citizen. The fastest way to get Turkish citizenship. Starting a family allows a foreigner to become the owner of a Turkish passport in three years.
  • Family reunification. Close relatives - Turkish citizens can apply for a residence permit for their family members living outside the country.
  • Treatment in Turkey. If a future patient of a Turkish clinic provides a treatment contract signed with the hospital, the authorities are obliged to offer him a temporary residence permit for the entire period of treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Education in higher educational institutions of the country. The basis for obtaining a residence permit is a contract signed with the university and proof of the availability of the necessary funds in the account of the future student.
  • Work in Turkish enterprises. Qualified personnel who have found a job and enlisted the support of local employers are eligible for a work visa and residence permit.

Obtaining a residence permit does not automatically entitle a foreigner to work. To get a job, you have to get a special permit from the Ministry of Labor.

A foreign immigrant can receive a cherished passport if he has legally resided in the country for at least five years, has a stable financial income of a legal nature, has passed a medical examination and has a certificate of the absence of dangerous diseases, and has passed an examination for proficiency in the Turkish language.

All works are good

The fairly high level of economic development of Turkey and the stable dynamics of its GDP growth make the country an object of close attention of foreigners who decide to work at local enterprises. Decent wages and modern comfortable working conditions attract qualified personnel from many countries and Russia, in particular.

Work in Turkey is most often found by IT specialists, teachers and kindergarten teachers, engineers and construction workers.

There is a great need for Russian-speaking workers in the tourism business. Resorts often require guides with knowledge of Russian and English, waiters, hotel receptionists and animators.

An important condition for getting a high-paying job in Turkey is at least a minimum knowledge of the Turkish language. Such applicants are given preference in the first place.

Business people

Starting your own business is another easy way to become the owner of the coveted residence permit and move to live in Turkey. The most popular form of legal entity among Russian businessmen developing their enterprise in the country is a limited liability company, for the establishment of which you will need:

  • The authorized capital, whose size must be at least 5000 Turkish liras.
  • Two or more founders.
  • Depositing money by the founders to the firm's account within 90 days from the date of registration.

The company can be registered on the basis of a notarized power of attorney from the founder, moreover, there is no need to hire Turkish citizens by law. The latter circumstance is liked by those businessmen who are used to being guided in their work by punctuality and decency and cannot rely in everything on local residents with their special mentality.

You will be declared husband and wife

The difference in traditions and mentality is the main difficulty that awaits a foreigner in Turkey who decides to marry a local resident.

To register a relationship, you will need a permit issued by the Russian Consulate in Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya and other Turkish cities. This permission must be submitted to the district authorities at the place of residence of the Turkish chosen one or chosen one. The certificate must also contain information that the future foreign spouse is not in another marriage.

In addition, the Turkish authorities will have to submit a medical certificate confirming the examination in a state medical institution.

The age limit for marrying in Turkey is 15 for a girl and 17 for a boy.

After the wedding ceremony, the spouses can apply to the local police station for a residence permit. Three years of being legally married and living with a partner in Turkey are the basis for obtaining Turkish citizenship.

Think for yourself, decide for yourself

Despite its almost European geographic coordinates, Turkey remains a Muslim country with rather strict customs and cultural and behavioral features of its citizens.

The difference between religions for representatives of Christian traditions can be quite painful, and therefore integration into Turkish society can cause particular difficulties for believers and people of middle and older age.
