Getting an education at a Croatian higher education institution is a worthy reason to get a residence permit and stay in the republic legally. The document is issued for only a year, but it can be renewed annually if the student successfully passes to the next course. You will have to submit documents at least 45 days before the expiration of the previous residence permit. An important condition is a passport valid for at least three months at the time of submission of documents.

Dual citizenship is not legal in Croatia. The exception is made by persons who have received a residence permit in the country under the business immigration program.
