Muslim landmarks
It is clear that in Bukhara, the stronghold of Islam, the largest number of architectural monuments are associated with this particular religion. An independent inspection of the city allows you to highlight the most important objects, for example, the Mausoleum, which was built during the life of Ismail Samani, where his remains and the ashes of other members of the family were later buried. Today, many pilgrims rush to see the oldest Muslim landmark in Bukhara.
Another popular meeting point for tourists is the Kalon Minaret, the construction of which dates back to the 12th century. This is also a kind of tomb of one of the local rulers. The peculiarity of the minaret is the presence of ornamental stripes of azure color. It is believed that during the construction of this particular masterpiece, architects first used azure tiles, which later began to be actively used in Central Asia for the construction of mosques.
Ark also attracts attention - the famous fortress of Bukhara, located on the Registan square. The complex was equipped with everything necessary for the life of the rulers of the city, so no siege by external enemies was terrible. Today, on the territory of this fortress, there is a museum that allows you to visually represent the life of the townspeople in the past.
