Today, an independent trip to the Solovetsky Islands attracts many travelers. Some extreme lovers, who prefer to get the maximum adrenaline, cross the waters of the White Sea on sailing ships and even kayaks. But this path should be chosen only by a real pro. For "mere mortals" there are airplanes and ships.
How to get to Solovki?
If relatively recently it was possible to get to the islands only by water, now Solovki and the mainland are connected by air traffic. The flight to the islands from Arkhangelsk airport takes no more than an hour. The ticket price is around five thousand. In the summer, when a huge number of people strive to get to the islands, flights are made daily.
For those who prefer traditional routes, it is worth choosing a motor ship. The place of departure is the cities of Belomorsk and Kem. It should be borne in mind that the journey from Kem to Solovki takes only two hours. And this is exactly two times shorter than the journey with the starting point Belomorsk. The price of a boat trip is about one thousand.
If you wish, you can go to Solovki by car. All the same motor ships are used as a ferry, but it will be necessary to negotiate the passage of the car directly with the captain of the vessel. As a rule, there are no problems here, and therefore a trip to Solovki by car cannot be called exotic. The fare is from seven to ten thousand one way only. But when choosing this type of travel, you need to remember that dirt roads prevail on the islands. And the optimal car model for travel is a powerful SUV.
By car, it will be possible to inspect only the Bolshoi Solovetsky Island, since motor ships dock only here. The problem is that this island is a nature reserve. This status prohibits free movement over rough terrain.
