Tel Aviv is an extremely lively and bustling Israeli city, which is the largest economic and cultural center of the entire country. Often, any tourist trip involves a visit to Tel Aviv, and this is not bad at all. After all, this city can offer not only wonderful scenery for photos, but also numerous restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, as well as some of the best beaches in the world.
Like every self-respecting city, Tel Aviv has its own official symbols, which deserve special attention. After all, the coat of arms of Tel Aviv, for some unknown reason, was adopted for a very long and difficult time, after which it was also repeatedly modified. However, the result came out quite good and, as experts joke, not at all as ridiculous as in other cities of the country.
History of the coat of arms
As already noted, the process of adopting the coat of arms was very difficult and, in fact, was a real epic. It is known for certain that for the first time the first mayor of Tel Aviv, Dizengoff, was seriously concerned with this issue, who believed that the city could not be full-fledged without its own coat of arms. Colleagues have supported him since then, as they say, it started.
The creation of sketches, as well as screening and editing of suitable ones, lasted for another 4 years, after which the first coat of arms of the modern design was approved with grief in half. Later, it was modified more than once, but the changes mainly affected such trifles as the color scheme of some parts of the coat of arms, so they can be considered insignificant.
Description of the composition
The coat of arms depicts the following:
- a green-painted shield topped with a stylized tower crown;
- star of David;
- sea waves;
- a scattering of gold stars;
- fortress with a lighthouse.
Deciphering the coat of arms does not cause difficulties, since the authors themselves wanted to make it an open book, accessible to everyone.
The Star of David, containing the fortress and the lighthouse, in this case denotes an invitation for all fellow believers, to whom the city promises shelter and protection. Sea waves, in turn, have an absolutely traditional connotation.
Green color in the European tradition symbolizes the abundance of meadows and the richness of nature. Here he reflects the freedom, joy and hope of the townspeople.
Separately, I would like to note such a symbol as the stars. In classical heraldry, it denotes the heavenly or spiritual principle, or the change of day in another way. But here everything is different and in some way even absurd. The authors of the coat of arms themselves explained that the seven stars of the golden stars are a symbol of the seven-hour working day, which, according to the mayor's expectations, was to be introduced in Tel Aviv.
