The eastern region of Samarkand has a rich past. It is here that the most ancient sights are concentrated. The Chinese, Persians, Turks, Arabs and other peoples left their traces in the history of the city. Famous tourist sites are located in the old part of Samarkand. The western part of the city is occupied by new buildings. This is the so-called Russian Samarkand, the quarters of which were formed during the reign of the Russian tsars.

Tashkent street

The central street of the city is Tashkentskaya. It starts in the center, near Registan Street, passes through the Afrasiab settlement and ends at the Samarkand ring road. Tashkent street intersects with Shahinizida street, which was a dead end until 1999. It has numerous branches in different directions.

University Boulevard

In the center of the Russian Quarter, there is a wide, beautiful University Boulevard, which reaches Amir Timur Square. Further, Registan and Tashkentskaya streets begin. Previously, the boulevard was called Abramovsky and Gorky boulevard. In its middle there is a beautiful alley that divides the street into two halves.

University Boulevard was founded in the 18th century. After his formation, European-style houses began to appear in the city. The New City approaches the boulevard from the west. University Boulevard is considered the most attractive in the city due to the prevalence of European style in the architecture of buildings.
