Vienna is the main city of Austria. It is mentioned in documents dating back to the 9th century. In ancient times, Celtic tribes lived on the territory of Vienna, then the Romans laid a fortress here. The streets of Vienna are full of sights, including some that have survived from the 12th century. In those early years, the city was considered the residence of the rulers of Austria. Then the famous Viennese Boulevard Ring appeared. On the streets you can see buildings in different architectural styles. A large number of old streets are a dignity of the city from the point of view of history lovers.

Kärntner Strasse

This is the central pedestrian street located in the Inner City. At the beginning there is St. Stephen's Cathedral, in the middle - the Vienna Opera, at the end - Karlplatz. The street is a unique landmark, as information about it has been preserved since 1257. Previously, it ran from the city center to the Carinthian Gate. Since then, the Kärntner Straße has been the city's main thoroughfare.

One of the oldest buildings in the city is the Esterhazy Palace, located on this famous street. The palace was built in the 17th century and is still considered the property of the Esterhazy family. Another Viennese palace - Todesco, is located opposite the Opera building.

Vienna has a special pedestrian area in the shape of a horseshoe. It is formed by the streets Kärntner Straße, Graben and Kohlmarkt. Many restaurants, cafes and shops attract people walking along the Kärntner Straße.

Kohlmarkt street

The most prestigious and oldest place in Vienna is the Kohlmarkt commercial street. There are beautiful buildings and expensive shops here. The facades look luxurious, as experienced architects worked on each project. The fountain built in 1391 is considered a famous object on this street.

A long time ago, Kohlmarkt was chosen by jewelers who worked for the Emperor's court. Therefore, the street is traditionally considered jewelry. Today it is decorated with chic boutiques and brand shops of world famous brands: Cartier, Armani, Gucci, Chanel, Bulgari, etc.

Ringstrasse

Ring Street is located on the site of the ancient city walls. It is a beautiful boulevard lined with parks, elegant restaurants, palaces and public buildings. On the Ringstrasse there are: Museum of Art History, Natural History Museum, Hofburg, Burgtheater, State Opera, etc.

There are a lot of attractions in Vienna. If you start exploring the city from the central streets, you can see the main historical sites. The main Viennese streets form the First District (Old Town) - a small place surrounded by a ring of picturesque boulevards.
