An overseas department of France in the eastern Caribbean, Guadeloupe is famous for its white beaches and a colorful, noisy carnival that takes place on the islands in January and February. The air gate of the French overseas department is located less than three kilometers northeast of Pointe-a-Pitre. Transfer from the only passenger terminal is possible by taxi. Hotels in Guadeloupe also practice a popular service of meeting them at the airport.
