Many holidays in Kyrgyzstan coincide with those celebrated in Russia. It is surprising that in a country where the majority of the population is Muslim, Christmas is considered a public holiday. They organize festivities, ride horses. Divine services dedicated to Christmas are held in the temples located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, the holiday menu of the holiday is also observed. For example, they cook sochivo according to Orthodox recipes.

In Kyrgyzstan, history is treated with trepidation. Perhaps there is not a single country that was formed as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, where the anniversary of the October Revolution would be celebrated. And here on November 7 rallies and demonstrations are held with the laying of flowers at the Lenin monument.

Traditional celebrations in Kyrgyzstan

But there are national holidays in Kyrgyzstan. As in most Muslim countries, Nooruz is celebrated here. It takes place on the day of the vernal equinox. According to the ancient belief, it is believed that it is today that nature is being renewed. Previously, there was a tradition according to which the boys who were born on this day were called Noorzubai, and the girls - Nooruz. There is also a sign that if it snows on March 21, then it is good. On this day, festivities and competitions are held. In addition, it is customary to treat everyone to pilaf.

Bird of prey festival

One of the most popular in Kyrgyzstan is the Birds of Prey Festival. Golden eagles and hawks have long been very popular with local hunters. Therefore, it was customary to catch young birds, raise and train. They were indispensable hunting assistants.

Once upon a time, these birds of prey helped feed small villages. That is why the country treats golden eagles and hawks with great reverence. Very often, winged predators were considered full members of families. People who teach birds still live here. This is a whole art, therefore, such people are treated here with special respect.

Felt Festival

In many regions of Kyrgyzstan, customs have been preserved that have been observed for many generations. This is how the Felt Festival displays all the culture, the richness of nature and historical events. Do not forget that traditional Kyrgyz dwellings are made of felt, so the felt is produced here of very high quality. Making the material is considered a traditional craft in Kyrgyzstan.

Horse games

The Kyrgyz from time immemorial led a nomadic lifestyle, so horses and hunting dogs were especially appreciated here. Not only the riding qualities of horses were appreciated, they were the main assistants in traditional Kyrgyz life.

In some parts of the country, a part of the population still leads a semi-nomadic lifestyle and men are fluent in the art of horse riding. There are a large number of national equestrian games here that allow their participants to demonstrate their agility and reaction.
