Dombay is an all-Russian center for alpine skiing, tourism, mountaineering and extreme sports. The climate here is mild, with moderate humidity, without sharp temperature fluctuations, with a predominance of sunny days. Rest on Dombai is healing air, picturesque views, conditions for unusual types of entertainment.
The main types of recreation on Dombai
- Sightseeing: having gone on an educational tour, you will be able to visit the Teberdinsky nature reserve, the Murudzhinsky lakes (Goluboe, Black) and various waterfalls (Chukhchursky, Alibeksky).
- Ski: the resort has modern trails (both beginners and pros will find suitable trails here), drag and chair lifts, a pendulum cable car. The best place for skiing in Dombai is the slopes of Mount Mussa-Achitara (from here you can admire a gorgeous view of the Teberda valley, the Main Caucasian ridge). If you are an experienced athlete who loves to take risks, you can find unbroken slopes at the resort: you, along with other participants and an instructor, will be taken by helicopter to the top of the slope, and after an extreme descent, they will be taken back.
- Active: in Dombai, everyone will be able to paraglide, ride a horse, go for a walk in mountain gorges, go rafting or mountaineering. If you wish, you can go here during the period of competitions in freestyle, slalom, snowboarding, paragliding.
- Wellness: you can improve your health (clean air heals lung diseases, water from mountain lakes has a healing and rejuvenating effect) in the Mountain Peaks health resort complex, Taulu health resort, Dombai Palace health resort (in addition to health procedures, guests can play billiards, tennis, bowling, rent the necessary equipment).
Prices
The price level for tours to Dombay depends on the season. Despite the fact that Dombay is a year-round resort, it is advisable for lovers of winter recreation to come here at the end of November - April. But since this is a high season, prices double. And so that the voucher is not taken from you right in front of your nose, and you get exactly the hotel you want, with the range of services you need, it is better to book winter tours in advance (discounts are provided for earlier booking).
As for the decline in prices for tours to Dombay, it is observed in May and continues throughout the summer (low season).
On a note
To minimize the occurrence of an accident, do not ride on closed tracks (they are often closed in areas of high avalanche risk). In addition, it is advisable to wear gloves, goggles and equipment appropriate for your level of riding.
Despite the fact that on vacation in Dombai you will not be able to use all the lifts with a single ski pass, you can purchase separate passes for using the main lift systems (their cost includes compulsory life and health insurance).
