Transport in Spain is represented by an extensive network of highways, railways, a considerable number of seaports and airports.
Urban transport in Spain
- Buses: All of them run frequently, strictly on timetables and are air conditioned. Before getting on the bus, it should be borne in mind that several buses can come on the same route (they are numbered), so it is important to check the data on the purchased ticket with the data on the bus plate. To get off the bus, you need to notify the driver by pressing the green button.
- Metro: You can take the metro in Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona. It is worth considering that the doors on trains can be opened automatically, using a lever or pressing a button. If you plan to use the metro services frequently, it is advisable to purchase not a one-time, but a travel card for 10 trips (T10). To pay for travel, you need to insert a ticket (cardboard card) into the slot on the front panel of the turnstile, which will pop out behind the walk-through turntable. Since stops in the metro are not announced, you should carefully look at the electronic boards, which reflect information about the stops. Important: you may be given 2 tickets (one for the turnstile and the other for entering the metro), which should not be thrown away until the end of the trip.
Railway transport
To quickly and comfortably get to the desired Spanish city, you can use the services of trains (there are air conditioners, TVs, comfortable seats). It is worth noting that if you buy a train ticket in advance (at the ticket office at the station or on the website), you can save 40-50%.
Taxi
Spanish taxis have βcheckersβ on the roof of the car with the inscription βtaxiβ, and by the inscription βlibreβ or a lit green light, you can understand that the driver is ready to receive passengers. It is advisable to take a taxi at special parking lots or by calling it by phone, since Spanish drivers do not drive around the city in search of clients. Despite the presence of meters, often fixed prices are set for travel to certain places, so it is advisable to ask the driver about the cost of travel in advance.
Car rent
On average, car rental costs 70-80 euros / day, but you can save money by renting it on weekends or pre-booking it online. To conclude a rental agreement, you (you must be over 23 years old) must have an international driver's license and a credit card. If you violate the traffic rules, you will be issued a fine, which you must pay on the spot. Important: you can be fined up to 6,000 euros for using a radar detector. And when you return the car, fill it with a full tank of gasoline.
Spain has a modern and well-equipped transport system at its disposal, so you won't have any problems while traveling around the country.
