For our compatriots, rest on the Black Sea is inextricably linked with childhood. And no matter how much we travel around the world, no matter how many exotic countries we have seen, a trip to the Black Sea coast always touches some strings of the soul. What can you do, "we come from childhood."

The Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, once accessible only to selected workers of the party-communist nomenklatura, in the 70-80s was considered abroad, and today it seems very “ours”. Nature resembles Crimean pastorals, icons in churches are indistinguishable from ours, signs and announcements are written in Cyrillic and in 90% of cases are intuitive, Russian speech is found everywhere.

But no matter how much you compare Bulgaria with Crimea or Sochi, with Turkey or Romania, where vacation on the Black Sea is also available, Bulgaria remains a winner. At almost equal prices, the quality of the beaches is better here, and the people are more cordial.

Our tourist brother comes to Bulgaria at the call of the sea. Children and respectable matrons appreciate the excellent gentle entrance to the water, the bronze-golden sand on clean beaches, the aroma of pine forests, which is so necessary for children and adults who are often ill, who also breathe the air of "colds and drafts." But the Bulgarian nature is not always favorable to vacationers: there are strong storms, and rains, and high solar activity.

The main complaint of most tourists is the unobtrusive Bulgarian service. However, this drawback can be easily overcome with a weighty trump card - the low cost of rest. By the way, the acceptable combination of price and level of service attracted numerous tourists from Europe to the coast - Germans, Swedes, Czechs and British. And this influx attracted investment from Germany, and also proved to be extremely beneficial for the Bulgarian economy - a galaxy of new resort complexes, hotels that did not look like Soviet-era health resorts, restaurants and nightclubs grew.

There are more than 40 resort villages and towns on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Geographically, they can be divided into 2 groups: those that are closer to Burgas and those that are closer to Varna. These cities are "staging points" from which the tourist fraternity is transported to the resort location. The most famous resorts are Sunny Beach and Golden Sands, bathers, sunbathers and party-goers from all over Europe and, of course, from our regions flock here. For connoisseurs of measured rest, you can recommend Albena, Sveti Konstantin or Kranevo. It is quiet and not too crowded, especially if you are not staying in a hotel, but in an apartment.

The tourist season reaches its climax in August - and the sea is warm enough, and the days are the warmest. But going to Bulgaria in the velvet season means ruining your idea of the country: there are a lot of people, take a sun lounger on the beach even in the evening, excursions in the historical surroundings are accompanied by an insane number of inquisitive vacationers, “photos in the background” are difficult. From September, the tourist boom gradually fades away, and from October to April, most hotels, apartments and even museums go into hibernation.

I would like to put in a separate word about the ancient cities of Bulgaria: be sure to visit Nessebar, Pomorie or Sozopol, whichever is closer to your resort. Here is an ancient and original country with its difficult historical past and amazing atmosphere. In the harbors, like 100 and 200 years ago, there are tiny boats - to this day, some families replenish the family treasury by fishing, and we, vacationers, are served in the restaurant the freshest mullet or sprat, which in Bulgarian has a funny name "tsatsa" …

Even if you have traveled half of the world, holidays on the Black Sea should not be discounted. Where else but in Bulgaria can you feel at home? Which is true, with all the ensuing pros and cons of such leisure.
