  • Bay of Kotor. Herceg Novi
  • Perast
  • Kotor
  • Blue Grotto
  • Ostrog monastery
  • Grand canyon

A Russian person, 11 months a year living in not the most affectionate natural conditions, simply needs a date with the sea. But it is worth frying your back a little and lying on the sides on the beach, as an active nature craves excursions and new experiences. It is for such curious travelers that excursion tours to Montenegro are designed: having replenished the reserves of ultraviolet radiation, tourists discover a diverse and picturesque country, with an area of only 4 Moscow, but filled with a variety of riches: historical monuments, spiritual shrines, natural treasures.

Bay of Kotor. Herceg Novi

We started our acquaintance with Montenegro from the Bay of Kotor, the largest and most picturesque in the Mediterranean. For a long time, Boka Kotorska gave shelter to sailors, sheltering their ships from the raging sea. We started from Herceg Novi, the “city of a thousand steps”, two ancient towers and music festivals. Variety art in Montenegro is not for everybody, but what the soul of Montenegrins sings can be heard either in the old lane, where two noble Dons sing comic couplets with a guitar, or in a pub, or sometimes you can meet a singing Montenegrin right on the street. He is not drunk and has no begging hat, just sings the song of a man walking home. Herceg Novi is buried in flowers and trees, for many years sailors brought their seedlings from all over the world.

Perast

Then we go to the fishing town of Perast, the abode of pirates, brave warriors and experienced captains. A man-made island was poured near Perast, and once on a cliff two fishermen found an icon that works wonders. They erected a church on the island, in which they placed a miraculous find, which gave the name to the island - the Virgin of the Cliff. Recently, a maritime museum has also been located on the island.

Kotor

A true gem of the bay, without which tours to Montenegro lose their value - ancient Kotor, cinematic and attractive with its light, slightly bohemian atmosphere. The city was founded in the days of the Roman Empire. The medieval streets of Kotor are woven into labyrinths, and it seems that somewhere here, among geraniums, lanterns, citrus trees and marble stairs, the soul of Montenegro wanders.

If you like a trinket, buy it immediately, you will never find this particular store later, although antique shops and boutiques with the latest resort wardrobe are literally at every step. The walls of the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, founded in 1166, are bathed in the sun, and the inside of the temple is cool. Today it is the oldest functioning temple of the Adriatic and a symbol of Kotor.

Blue Grotto

Another island of Boka Kotorska, invariably included in all tours in Montenegro, is the Blue Grotto. For many millennia, sea waves and winds have formed a cave in the stone stronghold. Here the sun's rays are refracted in an amazing way and it seems that the water in the grotto is incredibly turquoise. Bathers with an iPhone in their teeth feel like they are inhabitants of a fabulous planet. Or on the set of the movie "Avatar". The purity of the water in the Grotto is simply extraordinary.

Ostrog monastery

If you are tired of the beachfront Dolce Vita and it's time to think about your soul, go to the Ostrog Monastery. The main spiritual shrine of the Montenegrins is located at an altitude of 900 meters and gives the impression of “hanging in the air”. The imperishable relics of Vasily Ostrozhsky, a healer and miracle worker, are kept here. The temple is revered not only by Orthodox, but also by Catholics and Muslims. They say here: “It doesn't matter who you are. It matters why you came here. Someone overcomes the road to Ostrog on foot, which is equated to a spiritual feat. But you can also drive up.

Grand canyon

Acquaintance with Montenegro would be incomplete without a trip to the canyon of the Tara River, which is inferior to superiority in depth only to its older brother, the Grand Canyon. On the way to the canyon, you will see everything that the fertile Montenegrin land is rich in: primeval forests where wolves, deer and lynxes live, alpine meadows, mirror lakes, the Djurdjevic Tara bridge, from which a panorama tickling your nerves opens. And of course the canyon itself. The daredevils will venture to raft down the river, where two hours of struggle with the unbridled nature of the mountain river are rewarded with a blissful drift along fantastically beautiful landscapes. And then they will replenish the spent kilojoules with appetite: after rafting, a village dinner seems to be food of the gods.

Usually a tour to Montenegro is designed for 2 weeks, so that you have time to buy and see the country. You didn't have time for everything? Come again, most tourists leave here to return.
