Food in Iran is characterized by the fact that there are few establishments focused on foreign tourists in the country (menus are usually written in Farsi, and local food is different from European), but, nevertheless, national dishes are not spicy, not fatty and very varied.

And those with a sweet tooth will be delighted with cookies with nuts (walnuts, almonds) and spices, fruits, faludeh (local ice cream made from crushed ice, lime juice and pistachios), nut halva, baklava, raginaka (walnut sweetness), sharbat lima (sherbet with lemon), vanilla ice cream with rose water and cream (“bastani-akbarmashti”).
Where to eat in Iran?
At your service:

-sofre-hane (restaurants with national cuisine);
- snack bars and street cafes (here you can order sandwiches, shawarma, pizza, buns);
- kebabs.
There are few national restaurants, teahouses and hookah bars in the country, so it is not easy to find a decent place to eat here. But, having found the right restaurant, you can be sure that there you will be fed for the whole day.
Drinks in Iran
Popular Iranian drinks - tea with saffron, coffee, doug (fermented milk drink based on yoghurt with a mint flavor), fruit juices (watermelon, lime, barberry), cocktails and other non-alcoholic drinks, including Fanta and Coca-Cola, non-alcoholic beer with fruit flavors.
It is forbidden to drink alcohol in Iran, so there are no places in the country where alcohol is sold openly.
