In recent years, the development of infrastructure for children's recreation in the Belgorod Region has received close attention. Today there are health-improving, sports, specialized camps, as well as institutions that involve a day stay.

Rest conditions in the Belgorod region

The moderate continental climate of the Belgorod region ensures mild winters and hot summers. The continentality of climatic conditions increases from west to east. It has a long summer (about 110 days) with hot weather and few rainy days.

Children's camps in the Belgorod region begin to work by the beginning of the summer holidays. In Belgorod and other cities of the region, there are recreational school camps with a day stay. One shift in such a camp lasts 21 days. All schoolchildren are admitted to the school camp, regardless of the place of work of their parents and the social status of the family. Day camps are publicly available. The programs in them are designed for children aged 7 to 15 years.

The leaders of school camps are faced with the following tasks: to modernize the work of institutions, to increase the employment of children, to provide excursions, hikes and other activities. The administration annually conducts a regional review of health camps. At the same time, great attention is paid to ensuring the safe transportation of schoolchildren. The most painful issue is the material and technical base of some out-of-town institutions.

Today in the Belgorod region there are more than 34 country camps. Of these, five are considered sanatoriums. They were recently opened on the basis of sanatoriums and rest homes. Not all of the Belgorod camps have modern equipment that meets the standards for sports and living conditions for children's recreation. For example, in the course of an inspection carried out by the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision, it turned out that the material and technical base of six camps does not meet hygienic and sanitary rules and regulations. These camps include Krasnaya Polyana, Dubravushka, Dzerzhinets and others.

Choosing a camp for a child

Children's camps in the Belgorod region are subdivided into recreational, sports, creative, and language camps. Some of them work not only in summer, but all year round. Stationary camps are located in specific locations. Vacationing schoolchildren live in comfortable buildings. Many children enjoy camping or campgrounds. Rest in them is often combined with hiking trips. In the region there are sanatorium-type institutions recommended for children with poor health.
