Description of the attraction

The Lubusz Theater is a theater located in the town of Zielona Gora. The theater building was built in 1931 by the German architect Oskar Kaufman. The main requirement for the facility was its versatility - the ability to work as a drama theater, opera house, ballet hall. The construction was financed from the city budget. After reconstruction in the post-war years, the building began to function only as a theater.

In the early 1940s, troupes from Berlin, Wroclaw and other cities came to the Lyubush Theater on tour. After the end of World War II, the theater was opened for a short time, and then closed its doors for six years due to lack of funds. In 1951, the theater began its work again, the grand opening took place on November 24 with the premiere of the play "Revenge" by Alexander Fredro, a Polish comedy writer.

In December 1964, the State Lyubush Theater was renamed into the Leon Kruchkovsky Lyubush Theater in honor of the Polish playwright and public figure Leon Kruchkovsky. The multifunctional hall also underwent changes in these years: the number of seats was reduced (from 725 to 385), the orchestra pit was dismantled.
