The Local History Museum in Zelenogradsk is located in the very center of the city, in an old mansion, erected at the beginning of the XX century. Until 1945, the mansion was the property of the family of the famous lawyer M. Krell. In the post-war years and until recently, this building housed a children's library.

Today the Zelenograd Museum of Local Lore is an architectural monument of regional significance and one of the main attractions of the city of Zelenogradsk. Museum expositions, located on an area of 550 sq. m, tell visitors about the history of the city and the region, from ancient times to the present.

The archaeological collection consists of the following expositions: "The era of Roman influence" (I-IV centuries AD), "Semba-Prussians of the Viking age" (IX-XI centuries). This collection allows you to get acquainted with archaeological finds testifying to the amber trade of the local population with the Roman Empire, with the events that took place on the Sambian Peninsula during the Great Migration, and with the materials of the Scandinavian and Prussian Viking era burials from the Kaup burial mound.

The historical reconstruction entitled "Inhabitants of Ancient Kaup", which is also part of the archaeological collection, is represented by materials that recreate the appearance and occupations of the Scandinavian and Prussian inhabitants of the Viking trading settlement Kaup, who lived here from the first half of the 9th century. at the beginning of the XI Art.

The epoch of the Middle Ages consists of the exposition "Under the rule of the order" (XIII - XVI centuries). Here are collected materials about the life of the region during the reign of the Teutonic Order.

The history of the modern era is presented in the sections "From the Kranta-Krug tavern to the fishing settlements", "Royal resort on the Baltic coast", "Fights on the Zemland peninsula", "From the depths of Russia to the Baltic shores". Exhibits from these expositions tell about the history of fishing in the Curonian Lagoon, about the history of the Krantz resort and resort activities since the first half of the 19th century. and before the Second World War, about the battles on the Zemland peninsula during the East Prussian offensive operation, about the post-war history of the formed Kaliningrad region, the formation of the city and district in 1945-1950 and the founding of the federal Zelenograd resort.

In the basement floor of the Museum of Local Lore, there are creative workshops where various master classes are held. The museum also has an exhibition hall and a souvenir shop.
