Description of the attraction
The Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was erected on donations from parishioners, and its opening took place in 2003 (according to some sources, in 2004). But until that time, only external work was done, and work inside the temple and its painting continued for at least another three years.
The exterior and interior of the temple changes from day to day. And today, in spite of its relatively small size, the church makes a bright, kind impression, not suppressing it with either ostentatious grandeur or excessive luxury. The Church of St. Andrew the First-Called is quite young, given the fact that religious institutions have been functioning in Melitopol since 1816. But, despite its small age, the temple has become a truly spiritual place for parishioners and enjoys good fame among them.
Andrew was the first of the apostles who followed Christ, and then brought Peter, his brother, to him. Andrew the First-Called - the first preacher of Christianity in Russia.
