Description of the attraction
The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Siauliai is the center of the city, all city roads flow to this place. This place is especially loved by locals, so the townspeople often make appointments and appointments here.
Initially, on the site where the church now stands, there was a wooden church built in 1445, which was later replaced by a stone one. The Renaissance cathedral was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The sacred building is a white building. The tower is 70 meters high. The buildings of the church are a vivid example of the medieval architectural style of the countries of northern and central Europe. The red tiles covering the buildings are the undoubted decoration of the temple.
In general, it is surprising that the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul has survived to this day almost in its original form, despite all the wars, fires, natural disasters. This became possible thanks to the dedication of many people, the masters each time restored the temple after all the blows suffered.
The oldest sundial in Lithuania can be seen on the wall of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. Despite their rather big age, they show the time accurately.
