Description of the attraction
One of the most beautiful places on the southern coast of Crimea is the Laspi Bay, the beauty of which is visible from the top of Ilyas-Kaya Mountain. Climbing the mountain is not difficult and any person can do it, no special training is needed. Thousands of travelers over the years climb the paths leading to the summit. Earlier, the temple of St. Elijah, whose name the peak bears, functioned here. Now there are ruins in its place, with a sanctuary nearby. Ilyas-Kaya means “Mount Ilya” in translation from the language of the Crimean Tatars, and it is named so in honor of Iliya Theesvite, the prophet.
Now the ascent to the top of Ilyas-Kaya is quite popular. It is believed that this is one of the "places of power", of which there are many in the Crimea. It is called differently - Tyshlar, Fingers of the Giant, Temple of the Sun, and it has a rather strong positive energy. The place for the temple is usually not chosen by chance. The temple was fenced off with a wall, from which only a trace remained. The location of the temple is clearly visible from the top of the mountain. It has a peculiar architecture.
The trail rises from the forestry estate, passes through the settlement of Laspi. This village was abandoned by its inhabitants in 1778. Further, individual rocks in the form of vertical teeth, set in an almost regular circle, are visible. It seems that this is a creation of human hands, like the British Stonehenge. But this is a natural creation.
From the top of Ilyas-Kaya, an amazing view of the Laspinskaya Bay opens. On the other side, the bay is surrounded by the Kush-Kai rocks. From the top of Ilyas-Kaya one can see the Southern coast and the slopes of the Crimean mountains on one side, the Chernorechenskoye reservoir and the Baydarskaya valley on the other side. From the top you can see Cape Aya and Cape Sarych, covered with juniper.
The height of the mountain is 681 m. It has a steep cliff from the southwest and south. The rest of the slopes are gentle and the trail rises along them to the very top. You can comfortably sit among the stones and spend unforgettable moments in silence.
The places here are beautiful with diverse flora and fauna. There are 20 types of orchids. A lot of anakamptis grows, an orris flaunts, the comperia of Compera fascinates, growing only here. It is recognized by the filamentous processes hanging from the lower sheets.
Visiting these places, a person receives an extraordinary charge of energy, unforgettable impressions and great pleasure.
