Description of the attraction
Istrian municipality - one of the oldest buildings, located right in the center of Porec, close to the city park and opposite the sea coast.
The building retains its purpose today, with the only difference that a little earlier it was used for meetings of the Istrian parliament, and now the District Parliament sits here. However, it was once a Franciscan temple, the construction of which dates back to the 13th century.
The interior of the building is decorated in the Baroque style of the mid-18th century. The stuccoed ceiling is complemented by sumptuous frescoes set in decorative medallions. A mosaic floor dating from the early Christian era was discovered in the courtyard of the assembly hall. He probably decorated the church.
For hundreds of years, the assembly hall has hosted parliamentary sessions, but today a variety of musical, cultural, artistic and theatrical events are also held in the city hall. For example, the Istrian municipality is the site of the Annals art exhibition.
