Description of the attraction
Museum-workshop of A. S. Golubkina is located in Bolshoy Levshinsky lane, in the center of Moscow, in the Arbat area. The museum was opened in May 1934. The exposition is based on sculptural works donated by the author's relatives to the state. They fulfilled the will of the sculptor - Golubkina bequeathed to make available for viewing the collection of her sculptural works.
Anna Semyonovna Golubkina (1864-1927) - a major master of the Silver Age, Russian Art Nouveau. Golubkina is a prominent representative of the art movement, with which the names of Vrubel and Serov are associated in painting, Scriabin in music, Bely and Blok in poetry.
The museum was opened in a manor house built at the end of the 19th century. The house was owned by M. Sabashnikova, a representative of the family of famous Moscow publishers. In 1900, the house with the estate passed to her sons, who added a two-story building to the house, intended for art workshops. The inner facade of the house, overlooking the garden, was created by the architect Yakunin. The facade was decorated in Art Nouveau style in 1910. It was in this annex that Golubkina moved in 1910. On the second floor there were two large workshop rooms and three small living rooms. Light entered the workshops through large windows overlooking the manor garden. The premises were bright and comfortable to work with.
The exposition of the Golubkina museum-workshop is located in several halls and is an exhibition of the sculptor's works from different years. The sculptures are made in various materials: bronze, marble, wood and plaster. On the second floor there is a workshop that gives a complete picture of the sculptor's titanic work. Here you can see blanks for sculptures and various tools used by the sculptor.
Two final works can be distinguished in the exposition, which give an idea of the creative path of the sculptor - "Birch" and "Portrait of Leo Tolstoy". They have the power of images that catches the eye. This is a poetic symbol of youth and a portrait of a great genius, striking with titanic strength, integrity of character and will.
In the memorial part of the exposition, you can see the surviving household items and photographs of loved ones.
