Description of the attraction

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kislovodsk is a unique structure throughout the country. This is practically the only temple, the construction of which began during the Soviet Union, and was not recreated on the site of the old destroyed one. The temple was erected in the 80s of the 20th century and dedicated to the celebration of the millennium since the baptism of Rus.

The construction of the temple was carried out under the leadership of Fr. Sergiy Limanov, who also acted as an architect. In 1987, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Anthony (Zavgorodny). With his active assistance, it was still possible to complete the construction of the temple, since many party organizations opposed this. He also presented the church with gilded crosses and vestments for the throne, which are still kept in the temple as one of the relics. The temple has three thrones - the central one, consecrated in honor of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord, and two side ones, which are dedicated to St. Nicholas the Pleasant and the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon. For ten years, the painting of the temple was carried out by an artist from Moscow - Nikolai Ivanovich Bureichenko. The iconostasis was created by Novosibirsk masters.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kislovodsk is one of the largest and most visited churches in the city; services are regularly held here. Many parishioners come from other cities to touch the main shrines of the temple - the Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God, Nicholas the Pleasure, as well as the miraculous icon of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon and the relics. On the territory of the temple there is a baptismal church of Saints Equal to the Apostles Tsar Constantine and Queen Helena.
