Description of the attraction
Villarrica National Park is one of the most visited places in the tourist area of Chile. In summer, from October to September, the average temperature in the park is 23 ° C; in the rest of the year, it rains more often.
The park was established in 1940 between the provinces of Araucania and Los Rios on an area of 63,000 hectares, in an area of large volcanoes and mountains of 3,776 m. Argentina.
This complex of active volcanoes and lush evergreen endemic nature has high peaks, hills, valleys, lakes and rivers, deciduous and evergreen vegetation. Villarrica Park is home to the Andean fox, woodpeckers, hawks, falcons, coots, mallards and black-necked swans. Cougars live in the highlands.
There are three volcanoes in the park: Villarrica 2847 m, Kyetrupillan 2360 m and Lanin 3776 m. The Villarrica volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in South America. If you want to see its crater, you don't need any experience, just a little physical preparation, camping equipment and 4 hours of time. The volcanoes Kietrupillan and Lanin are considered extinct.
You can take a fascinating boat trip along the Quillelhee lagoon. You will be impressed by the opening views of the Lanin volcano and the variety of aquatic plants, birds, amphibians. Also be sure to visit the lagoons of Blanca, Azul, Huinfiuca, Verde, Avatardas and Los Patos. Villarrica National Park has several developed special routes where you can see the most amazing places, visit craters and caves.
Tourists are required to observe silence and respect for the surrounding nature. The park has a ski center and campgrounds. Here you can go fishing in specially designated places, go down a mountain river in a kayak, canoe on the flat surface of the lake, observe wildlife, ride a horse and make an amazing photo session of the surrounding nature.
