Description of the attraction

St. Anne's Church is located in Seville, in the Triana district. The construction of this temple falls on the end of the 13th century, and today it is one of the most ancient religious buildings in the city.

The construction of the church was started in 1276 by order of King Alfonso X, who, according to legend, wanted to build a temple in gratitude for getting rid of a serious eye disease. The construction was completed at the beginning of the 14th century, as evidenced by the inscription on one of the walls of the building. After a strong earthquake in 1355, the building of the church was badly destroyed, and at the end of the 14th century it was restored. In the mid-16th and early 17th centuries, two chapels were added to the building. In 1755, there was another earthquake, called "Lisbon", during which the building of the temple was also severely damaged. The restoration of the church was carried out according to the project and under the direction of the architect Pedro de Silva, who made significant changes to the original appearance of the building.

In plan, the building has three naves and three polygonal apses. The vaulted ceilings are in the Gothic style and are supported by columns with graceful brackets. The walls of the building are made of bricks, columns, brackets and arched openings are made of stone.

The altar was created by Miguel Franco in the early 18th century, presumably in 1710. In the center of the altar there is an image of the Virgin of the Rosary. In 2010, the altar was completely restored to its original form.

In 1931, St. Anne's Church was designated a National Historic Landmark.
