Description of the attraction
Central Plaza is a 78-storey building with a height of 374 meters. The skyscraper was built in August 1992 at 18 Harbor Road, in the Wanchai area. It is the third tallest building in the city; until 1996, the structure was the tallest building in Asia.
Central Plaza is made in the shape of a triangular cylinder at the base, with a neon clock at the top of the tower that indicates the time with a 15-minute period. The top of the skyscraper is crowned with a 102 m high mast, and here, in the atrium, there is the world's highest church. The structure of the tower is two-component, consisting of a separate 368-meter office building and a block podium of 30.5 meters. The main building contains 57 office floors, five intermediate floors-halls for transfer to high-speed elevators and other premises.
The first level covers an area of approx. 90,000 sq. m., there is a landscaped garden with a fountain, trees and artificial stone paths. There are no retail outlets or commercial locations. on this floor there are three pedestrian bridges connecting the railway, ferry and bus terminals of Mass Transit, the Exhibition Center and the China Resource building. By leaving these spaces for public use, developers received 20% more building space in the form of a bonus.
Central Plaza is located in the heart of the commercial area overlooking the harbor. To maximize the view of the nearby cove, the building was designed with one of the corners facing the water. Thanks to this design, two-thirds of the office space has panoramic windows overlooking the harbor, while the remainder offers a beautiful view of the mountains and the surrounding area.
