Description of the attraction

The most famous cinema museum in Latvia is located in the small town of Capeene. Capeene is located in the Ogre region, about 30 kilometers from Ogre and 70 kilometers from Riga. It is home to 1,300 people.

The city of Capeene, even by the standards of Latvia, is inconspicuous and insignificant, but still two factors determine its popularity. Firstly, it is Keipene that is the geographical center of Latvia, so it is quite easy to find the city on the map. Secondly, in Capene there is a famous cinema museum, created at the beginning of the XXI century by the president of the international cinema forum "Arsenal" August Sukuts.

This museum is sometimes called the Museum of Sergei Eisenstein (years of life 1898-1948), who is one of the most famous and respected residents of Riga. Sergey Mikhailovich Eisenstein was born in Riga. This is a famous Soviet film director, screenwriter, film theorist and teacher. In 1935 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

The most interesting thing is that right at the railway station, tourists and guests of the city will be able to see an exposition dedicated to the famous director Eisenstein. The exposition is very modest, but the only one in the world. It was created with sincere respect and love. The walls of the station are pasted over with pages from the telephone directory. Eisenstein's drawings are also presented here. Here, in a place of honor, his portrait is exhibited. “Give me a phone book and I’ll make a movie out of it,” said the great director.

And in the hall of the station there is an old telephone with a disk, on which you can dial the number of the greatest actors and directors of cinema, even though many of them are no longer among us, and listen to the voices of the heroes. The phone numbers are written on a specially reinforced black board. And here is Marilyn Monroe's phone number. Shall we call her? Dialing a number on an old phone with a disk is completely unusual these days. And, lo and behold! The voice of a gorgeous blonde and music from her films is heard in the receiver.

There are also mailboxes installed here, with the help of which you can easily send your message to the great cinema figures. If you wish, you can write to Tengiz Abuladze, Oleg Dal, Arnold Burov, Michelangelo Antonioni, Akira Kurosava, Kira Muratova, Sergei Parajanov, Andrzej Wajda, Juris Podnieks and many others.

The museum contains materials about associative cinema, founded by the great director Eisenstein. Also here is the richest video library with excellent films. Next to the cinema museum stands gigantic furniture in the form of a table and two chairs for the giants of the cinema.

The Museum of Cinema in Capene is one of the most interesting sights of the Ogre region, and arouses genuine interest among visitors.
