Description of the attraction
The Natural Park "Monte Corno di Trodena" covers an area of 6,866 hectares in the region of South Tyrol. It includes several municipalities - Anterivo, Montagna, Trodena, Enya and Salorno. It is here that you can see with your own eyes all the diversity of flora and fauna of South Tyrol, which thrives in the sub-Mediterranean climate.
Fluffy oaks, white ash and various shrubs are the main elements of the park's flora, coloring it in all colors of the rainbow throughout the year. Between Trodena and Anterivo there are thickets of larch, there are also wetlands - peat bogs near lakes Bianco and Nero.
In the visit-center "Monte Corno di Trodena" you can see thematic exhibitions, and in the warm season you can order an introductory tour of the park. The visitor center itself occupies the building of an old electric mill, which has been carefully restored. The visitor center also includes a small cornfield outside the building, a medicinal plant garden and an amphibian pond. Here visitors can learn about the nature of the park, its cultural landscapes, history and hiking trails that run through its territory. Special programs have been developed for children.
Monte Corno di Trodena itself has several interesting landscapes, especially in the Appiano area. For example, Ice Holes and Valle della Primavera - Valley of Spring near the Monticolo forest. It is also worth noting the southern shore of Lake Caldaro, where many bird species nest, Castelvetere and the ecosystem of the Adige River.
