Description of the attraction
The St. Petersburg Interior Theater is one of the drama theaters in St. Petersburg. The theater was organized in the 80s. XX century and emerged as a troupe of young actors, headed by director Nikolai Belyak. His first performance "Scenes from Faust" by A. S. Pushkin passed in the house of the architect. It was a kind of experiment: the classical production took place in the decoration of the home library of the Polovtsev mansion. This project was continued by performances based on Pushkin's Little Tragedies. Together they formed a single cycle. In 1985, with the premiere of "Scenes from Faust", the theater announced its aesthetic program for a new direction in dramatic art - "interior theater".
The cycle "Little Tragedies" was followed by the following performances: "Autumn Boredom", staged based on the play by N. A. Nekrasov, which took place in the interior of the museum-apartment of the Russian poet, "Hamlet", which is a joint production with the Parisian theater "La Fabrix", which took place in "Jubilee", the play "Radix", an interior performance based on the play by L. Andreev "Requiem" entitled "The Day Will Be …", "The Enchanted City" (children's play) and others.
The experience of participation in the cultural and social life of the city (the theater took part in more than 100 actions) served as the basis for the implementation of the idea of the “City Mystery”, which was supposed to convey the uniqueness of the culture of the Northern capital in full using theatrical means.
In 1991, the theater began to create a unique collection of carnival costumes on the themes of St. Petersburg sculpture and architectural monuments of the city (today the collection includes more than 100 costumes). The collection has been used more than once for numerous important events for the city and international events, among which we can highlight: the opening of the Days of India in St. Petersburg, the closing ceremony of the Goodwill Games, the First St. Petersburg Carnival, which was organized by the theater in 1997 (more than 100 thousand citizens and guests of the city) and other events.
Thanks to the participation of a unique collection in many performances, the work of the St. Petersburg Interior Theater has received high marks from experts both in Russia and abroad. The theater was awarded the Medal of the GV Starovoitova Foundation and the Order of the Golden Archer.
In 2004, an acting course was recruited on the basis of the interior theater at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts. It was he who became the basis of the theater troupe and the creative core in the implementation of many theatrical ideas.
