Description of the attraction
Safari Zoo is a unique open-air zoo near Berdyansk since 2004. This is a private zoo, created on the initiative of businessman Igor Kalchenok.
Initially, the Berdyansk Zoo was located on the slope of a mountain and occupied a relatively small area of 17 hectares. However, even then it was inhabited by about thirty species of animals listed in the Red Book. The current territory of the zoo has expanded significantly, and now you can admire more than sixty species of exotic animals here. A well-thought-out layout, spacious enclosures and respect for animals have made this place popular for families. And the proof that the animals in the zoo are really loved and well looked after is the fact that during its existence 6 individuals of the Far Eastern leopard were born here. But this animal is listed in the Red Book, there are only 40 individuals left in the world. It is impossible not to remember about six lion cubs, four Ussuri tigers, monkeys and many other cubs who were able to be born thanks to the efforts of the caretakers. The main mission of the zoo is to preserve and revive the gene pool of endangered animals. And today it is being successfully implemented.
On the territory of the zoo there are not only aviaries, but also a recreation area. You can have a snack in a cozy cafe, relax in the shade of trees or near a pond, buy small souvenirs in memory of this amazing place. And children, of course, will want to feed the animals - at the entrance to the zoo, you can buy special food. Also, the zoo holds "Open Doors" days, during which you can visit it absolutely free.
