Description of the attraction

The Botanical Garden in Vladivostok is one of the natural attractions of this city, which is a favorite leisure spot for both locals and guests.

The history of the botanical garden is directly related to the history of Vladivostok. An attempt to create a garden near the Sad-Gorod station was made in the mid-1920s. Professor V. M. Savich. After the Great Patriotic War, the question was raised of creating in the system of the USSR Academy of Sciences a whole network of botanical gardens, covering all corners of the country. It was then that the Far Eastern base of the Academy of Sciences, together with the local authorities of the Primorsky Territory, took the initiative to create a Botanical Garden in Vladivostok. In April 1946, their initiative was supported. For this, a plot of land with an area of 176 hectares was allocated with perfectly preserved deciduous and black fir-deciduous forests.

In the 50s. The Botanical Garden was not yet considered a real scientific institution. In 1966 L. N. Slimy. In 1970, in connection with the organization of the Far Eastern Scientific Center of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Vladivostok Botanical Garden was given the status of an independent scientific institution. Already in 1990, the garden received the status of a research institute.

Today the Vladivostok Botanical Garden is the only botanical research institute in the Russian Far East. The Institute conducts research in three scientific areas: biological foundations of plant introduction, anthropogenic changes in the flora and protection of the gene pool of the flora of the Far East of the country.

In total, the collection of the Botanical Garden contains about 3 thousand species of plants. The collection is preserved, studied and maintained.

The botanical garden is beautiful at any time of the year and in any weather. It delights its visitors with magnificent roses, dahlias, lilies and irises. Luxurious magnolias, exuding a unique aroma, attract special attention. Their collection consists of 14 species. Magnolias are a landmark not only of the garden itself, but of the whole of Vladivostok.

Very dangerous place to walk A very dangerous place to walk, especially for women and children. I was personally convinced of this. My wife and I were returning from the M. Pionerskaya River, which is not part of the BS territory, and on the way made a reckless attempt to get to the bus stop through the BS gate. We had a bouquet of flowers with us, WHICH WE TOOK UP FOR …
