Description of the attraction
The delightful fragrant landscape park "Isopuisto" is spread over an area of more than 8 hectares around the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, built in the neoclassical style by the Russian architect Jacob Perrin in 1799-1801. This church is very famous for its valuable unusual icons. In front of the entrance to the church, from early spring to late autumn, visitors are surprised by its beauty with a blooming flower bed with luxurious tulips and perennials.
"Isopuisto" is a favorite place of recreation for the townspeople, who arrange picnics on well-groomed lawns, play ball with children, exercise, and walk their four-legged pets. The park has a small swimming pool for adults and a special swimming area for children.
In honor of the famous Russian physicist A. S. Popov, who opened radio communication between the two Finnish islands, a monument and a memorial plate are erected here.
