Description of the attraction

The monument to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin on the banks of the Svisloch River in Minsk was erected in 1999 for the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet.

Pushkin visited Minsk in 1824. He was returning from exile to Mikhailovskoye. Despite the fact that the state podorozhnaya ordered him not to deviate from the route, his friends persuaded him to stop by in Minsk. There, at one of the dachas, a game took place, described by Pushkin later in "The Queen of Spades".

The most romantic monument to Pushkin was presented to Minsk by the Moscow mayor's office. The poet sits on a bronze bench on the picturesque bank of the river and admires the sunsets over the ancient districts of Minsk. Steps of stairs lead from the bank to the bench. The poet would have gone down to the quiet river waters, but he was dreaming, looking at the magnificent view, and remained on the bench for good. Poems worthy of an ancient city are born in the poet's head. A dandy top hat lies nearby, his cloak is open, a goose feather is in his hand.

The monument was created by a creative team of sculptors, consisting of the father and son of the Orekhovs Yuri and Grigory.

Grateful residents of Minsk have arranged a beautiful park around the dreamy Alexander Sergeevich, beautiful in all seasons. Here flowers bloom from snow to snow, joyful children's voices ring. Newlyweds come here for the great Russian romantic to bless their union.

Near the monument to Pushkin, century-old oaks grow, as if the monument had stood here for a hundred years - so well it blended into this ancient natural corner.

The place for the erection of the monument to Pushkin was specially chosen so that the modern crowded energetic city remained behind the poet's back. In the distance, where silence gives way to city noise, the bulk of the modern hotel Belarus rises.
