Description of the attraction
Schönborn Castle near Chinadievo is not very old, it was built at the end of the 19th century on the site of an old hunting lodge, which stood here since 1840. One of the highlights of the castle is the number of windows corresponding to the number of days a year - 365, the number of rooms - the number of weeks (52), the number of entries is the number of months (12). The castle-palace is surrounded by a pretty park with unique trees, and also near it there is a picturesque pond, the configuration of which corresponds to the contours of Austria-Hungary.
Schönborn Castle belongs to the monuments of national importance and is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles on the territory of Ukraine. Built in the neo-Renaissance style, the castle combines gothic and romantic motives. After the reconstruction in its appearance, romanticism already prevailed: each component of the structure (chimney, tower) no longer only fulfilled its practical tasks, but also acted as a decoration for the building. The front doors and windows above them are decorated with biblical stained glass windows. In the geometric shapes of the castle, architectural scatter manifested itself: balconies, four towers of different shapes, tin weathercocks with the number "1890", stained glass windows in the chapel, a lot of chimneys, decorative loopholes, coats of arms with crowns and crosses. The five-leafed leaf is the main element of the coat of arms of the Bishop of Mainz and Bamberg Lothar Schönborn, the founder of the Transcarpathian branch of the Schönborn dynasty. The highest tower of the castle is decorated with a clock along with the family coat of arms.
In 1946, the Karpaty sanatorium was located on the territory of the estate, where diseases of the cardiovascular system are treated.
